Proof positive Hollywood doesn’t get it. Maybe if you made a movie that didn’t bash America and/or our troops, people would pay to see it. I’m glad they’re losing their a$$e$ on these films.

Did any of the wizards of hollywood ever once stop to think that maybe REAL Americans don’t want to witness their liberal trashing of America and it’s defenders? Would it absolutely kill them to portray America and it’s citizens in a positive light, just once? If they did, I bet they would see much higher box office numbers.
3. Mike November 9th, 2007 - 8:48 am
Did you it occur to you people are tired of anti-American war films in general? Especially those who have loved one serving over seas who feel their cause is just despite what the Hollywood elite agenda is…
You guys cannot see the forest for the trees.

Let me correct this point - I am not weary of war news at all. I am shunning these movies - and many others- because I am tired of Hollywood’s anti American stance on absolutely everything. However we got into the war, and whatever mistakes were made up to this point, we are one country. We need to win and we need to remain tough against terrorism. It doesn’t benefit anyone to do otherwise. I will go see a movie that reflects that point.
once again, the msm has NO IDEA what’s going on…Americans are shunning anti-American war films…tell the lefties in hollyweird to put out a pro-American war film and it’s a hit

This isn’t about being weary of war issues, its about seeing previews that show the clueless hollywood stars preach their views to all the ‘idiots’ inbetween the coasts. It souldn’t happen to a more deserving bunch!

The real answer - the obvious one that liberals can’t bring themselves to accept - is that most Americans are tired of liberal spinmisters trashing their country, our soldiers, and our way of life. The Redfors of the world sit in their ivory towers and try to tell us how to think and react based on their own prejudices and unrealistic notions of our world, let alone our nation. Here’s to hoping that all of them flop, because in the end they only serve to demoralize America and move us ever more closely to their version of nirvanna, socialism. And, as we all know from history, socialism does not work. It is a poison that decays and rots. This is the greatest nation on earth and is a beacon of freedom for all. It is a shame that these Hollywood liberals use their freedom to bite the hand that feeds them and keeps them safe, secure, wealthy and free. They are indeed entitled to their opions, but no one, including them, are entitled to success at the box office. Face it, people want entertainment, not indoctrination.

I agree with all of these comments. Hollywood doesn’t get it and America is tired of the “America is the enemy” portrayals.
Want to make money? make a movie about the heros that are fighting over there.
I’ll spend dollars to feel good about winning the war.
BTW, for me the war isn’t un-popular, but the strategy is. Let’s go WIN , then we can get out.
9. Buzz November 9th, 2007 - 8:57 am
Hollywood is a casualty of the war? BS. Hollywood is a casualty of itself. Stop making
anti-american films. Nobody wants to see this crap
except libs. Libs think the whole country thinks
like they do. New Flash Libs: THEY DON’T.
And they are still trying to get us out of Iraq WHEN WE ARE WINNING.

Hallelujah! Thank you, to all the responders so far. It does my heart good to see that so many people (all of you?) feel the same way that I do about these movies, and Hollywood in general.
I have an idea for Hollywood: Let’s get some great actors, some great directors, some great producers, and some great screenwriters, and let’s make a movie that edifies America, edifies our troops, and captures on the big screen the true bravery and gallantry that are being exhibited every day over in Iraq. Make a movie like that, and THEN let’s see how movie-goers respond!
Hollywood makes a sucky product that doesn’t sell, and the only reason they can come up with is, “People go to the movies to escape. We just need to make our anti-American military films more entertaining”… *groan* What a bunch of self-righteous dullards.
God bless America.

I agree with these other comments. Last weekend my husband and I were watching movie trailers on the Internet trying to choose a movie to go to. Although we felt like an action film, we couldn’t stomach going to one of these anti-American war films. Wouldn’t it be lovely if Hollywood would get the message?
12. Bubba November 9th, 2007 - 9:08 am
“The righs and wrongs of the conflict?”
People, you have to choose sides in a war, any war! I choose to side with the U.S.A. When the day comes that I can’t, I’ll leave.
If the producers of these films get the message that Americans are unwilling to pay to see them, then perhaps the producers will decide not to fund them.
It could happen…
AMERICANS ARE TIRED OF LIBERAL POLITICS THAT TRASH OUR TROOPS AND OUR EFFORT! THERE ARE SO MANY POSITIVE STORIES, TRUE STORIES TO BE TOLD OF HEROISM IN IRAQ AND IN AFGHANISTAN BUT HOLLYWOOD DOESN’T WANT TO TELL THOSE STORIES. IT DOESN’T FIT WITH THEIR ANTI-WAR NARRATIVE. ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS MAKE A WAR MOVIE THAT LIFTS OUR SOLDIERS UP TO THE PEDESTAL THEY DESERVE TO BE ON AND THE AUDIENCE WILL COME!
15. Bugs November 9th, 2007 - 9:14 am
The war in Iraq has been going on for nearly five years and the “war on terror” for almost seven. Technically savvy, highly informed American citizens have been debating every aspect of these conflicts since the beginning. I don’t think there’s a pro, con, or nuance that hasn’t been subjected to intense analysis and discussion in Congress, the MSM, and on the Internet. These movies aren’t failing because they’re downbeat and the unenlightened general public only want happy films. They’re failing because they have absolutely nothing to say that Americans haven’t been saying themselves, to each other, without Hollywood’s help, since 9/11. At this point, Hollywood is like a little kid interrupting a “grown up” conversation. Just making noise, trying to get our attention.

How do you spell out a raspberry in a comment section???
PPPFFFFSSSSTTT!!!!!!!!!
That is about the depth of the Hollywood crowd. I do enjoy that they are losing money and are running around trying to figure out why. They know its not them, it most be some right wing conspiracy
17. MIDWEST AMERICAN November 9th, 2007 - 9:15 am
THANK YOU ALL PREVIOUS POSTERS! I NOW THINK AMERICA HAS A CHANCE. Your right! Hollywood doesn’t get it. I hope they lose their money-hungry , holier-than thou, carbon-credit buying tails!

I’m an old fashioned WWII movie buff. Not one of those movies made in the 40’s portrayed the US or soldiers in a bad light, not one. People need to feel good not bad when going to the movies. There hatred of President Bush is what blinds them. Hollywood is aiding the enemy and don’t seem to care! I personally don’t care if Hollywood makes another movie, none have been worth going to see for a long time anyway. There are enough old movies out there to watch on video to last a long time. Movies with class, movies that made you feel good about being an American. Movies today are crap!
19. PJWA November 9th, 2007 - 9:23 am
It’s too bad that everyone responds actually “GETS IT,” but the writer of the article doesn’t — hardly a mention of why we don;t go to Hollywood war movies that portray our troops and our country kin a bad light.
Do the Hollywood types have any idea why “24″ was so popular with Americans? Any idea at all? How about this: we do believe in A,erica and what it stands for, and while we may not always go about it right — right is almost always on our side.
20. Harris November 9th, 2007 - 9:27 am
The coomenters get it. Americans do not want to pay money to see anti-American films, particularly while brave men and women are risking their lives in the service of their country. A complex, fair movie about the war on terrorism and the threat of Islamic fundamentalism would do well, but not these Michael Moore like America bashing movies.
