Green Sticker Rule: New Cars in CA Must Display Global Warming Score

More Americans are likely to suffer from kidney stones in the coming years as a result of global warming, according to researchers at the University of Texas.

Kidney stones, which are formed from dissolved minerals in the urine and can be extremely painful, are often caused by caused by dehydration, either by not drinking enough liquid or losing too much due to high heat conditions.

If global warming trends continue as projected by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in 2007, the United States can expect as much as a 30 percent growth in kidney stone disease in some of its driest areas, said the findings published in Monday's Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

The increased incidence of disease would represent between 1.6 million and 2.2 million cases by 2050, costing the US economy as much as one billion dollars in treatment costs.

BS

2. Kay B. Day   July 14th, 2008 - 2:36 pm

Well, this is nothing new. This isn’t the first stupid scientific claim I’ve read. Scientists can’t cure the common cold but they think they have everything else figured out.

Barry’s comment is right on.

3. navy65   July 14th, 2008 - 2:36 pm

I think it is the cause for all these people with rocks in theri heads too.
They shure don’t have brains in there.

4. Harry   July 14th, 2008 - 2:36 pm

The drink larger amounts of Sweet Tea in the stone belt of the south. Large amounts of tea is known to cause kidney stones.

5. Fedup Merican   July 14th, 2008 - 2:37 pm

Global warming does not increase your chance of getting kidney stones, but it just might increase the chance of falling down a congressional elevator shaft.

Get it?

6. joe   July 14th, 2008 - 2:37 pm

Let’s look at the bright side of this whole thing. For every new kidney stone patient we will have one less frost bite patient.

Just another Chicken Little “The Sky is Falling” story to try and make us all crazy. But they do say laughter is the best medicine and I do get a big laugh with all the doom and gloom being pumped out under the guise of science.

Jusy wish I had half of the money being p–ded away on such “important” research.

7. claudia   July 14th, 2008 - 2:39 pm

This is such a bunch of BULL!!!! Global warming is about a true as Gore inventing the internet ;O)

8. Nik   July 14th, 2008 - 2:42 pm

9. tom richards   July 14th, 2008 - 2:47 pm

10. IVillageIdiot   July 14th, 2008 - 2:48 pm

Yip! You’re all going to DIE!!!!!

Not of Global Warming of course, that will actually turn out to be a great thing if ture, and not from Human Caused Global Warming, that will turn out to be fraud JUST LIKE THE CLUB OF ROME who created it in the ’70s and repackaged it for the ‘90s using an new distributor this time, the Democrat Party!….

But rather from the massive ingestion of propaganda and lies told by the enemy within. THAT, is going to kill you eventually if you keep listening to it!

11. Ludwig   July 14th, 2008 - 2:51 pm

My cat died this afternoon. Clearly global
warming is to blame…….

12. Ray Walker   July 14th, 2008 - 2:53 pm

I’ve had kidney stones every 20 yrs since 1952, like clockwork. My mother’s father died of the stone in 1922. Like cancer and early balness, it’s in the genes not in some imagined global warming BS. If we listen to all the experts we’d quit eating, going ourdoors and move into caves. As a kid we all played with liquid mercury, covered silver coins with it, lived in homes with lead paint worked in gas stations, did brake work with asbestos. I’mm 77 and doing just fine, looking forward to my next stone in 2012. Got to keep doctors employed.

13. MKB   July 14th, 2008 - 2:53 pm

Thank goodness I had my waders on when I read this bilge!

My son has suffered from kidney stones. Dr.’s advice; cut out the coffee, power drinks and sodas. As for hydration, he also consumes around 12 glasses of water a day.

Why did this study mention nothing about diet, mmm?

14. SoCal Patriot   July 14th, 2008 - 2:54 pm

“My cat died this afternoon. Clearly global warming is to blame…….”

That and President Bush, don’t forget to blame him too… ;)

15. Peter Courtenay Stephens   July 14th, 2008 - 2:54 pm

it may and itthey can be totaly controlled by drinking 2 ozs of pure lemon juice in a 8 oz glass of water twice per day. In the morning and before bed. No surgery needed any more. Your DR. won’t have a clue, do they ever?

16. Lutzito   July 14th, 2008 - 2:55 pm

Ludwig, you are on to something here. My
parakeet hit the bucket this afternoon too.
That damn global warming again…

17. Snitchmo   July 14th, 2008 - 3:01 pm

I think they should open the windows in their labs: they’ve been huffing way too many fumes!!!

If a person is too stupid to drink more water when it gets warmer, hand them the Darwin Award on Evolution and thank them for culling the gene pool!!!

18. Sports   July 14th, 2008 - 3:03 pm

Oh PLEEEEZE!

19. Davo   July 14th, 2008 - 3:10 pm

Please try and spend our money on something more useful than global warming nonsense.

Big Al has been huffing too many baloney sandwitches, why not do a study on him/

20. gary   July 14th, 2008 - 3:14 pm
